The Ford V8 G81A was a German passenger car built by the German branch of the Ford concern in the second half of the 1930s on the basis of the Ford V8 model. Production ran roughly from 1938 to 1941 and over 8000 examples came about. After the outbreak of World War II a number of these cars were confiscated from civilian service and handed over to military units, where they served as staff, signals and passenger vehicles. The eight-cylinder engine gave the car decent performance for its day, but on the Eastern Front it had trouble on bad roads and off the road.
With a passenger car it pays to devote time to the interior and the chassis – finish and paint them before you close the body up. Glue the plastic with thin cement for polystyrene, and glue the transparent parts (windows, lights) at the end with canopy glue or with cyanoacrylate gel. The body takes a smooth finish well; for German vehicles use panzergrau or dunkelgelb, while on confiscated civilian cars dark civilian shades also appeared. Fine weathering is created with washes in the seams and dust and mud with pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
