E.T. Model 1:35 PLA Type 97 Medium Tank is a photo-etched detail set made of thin metal for a model of the Type 97 medium tank in Chinese postwar service. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a model you already have.

The set holds photo-etched parts, that is parts etched out of thin sheet metal, for improving a plastic model of the Type 97 medium tank in 1:35 scale. It is neither a model nor a kit. Photo-etched metal is used where a plastic molding cannot imitate thin sheet: the fenders and their flanges, the covers, the grilles, the loops, the lifting eyes, the clamps, the tool brackets and the small fittings. On older vehicles with a mass of riveted and sheet-metal items the difference between plastic and metal is particularly plain.
The Type 97 was a Japanese medium tank of the Second World War period, put together from riveted and welded plate, with a small turret and fairly light armament. After the war ended a number of these vehicles came into the hands of Chinese units and served on. One of them became the first tank of the Chinese armored forces and is remembered to this day under the name Gong Chen Hao. For the modeler it is an unconventional subject: it combines Japanese design with postwar Chinese markings and offers a vehicle that stands out in a collection.
Cut the photo-etched parts off with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and fold them in a bender or between two razor blades. Glue them with the smallest possible amount of cyanoacrylate, or solder them. Degrease the metal before painting and brush on a metal primer. On an older vehicle bolder weathering pays off: a wash in the engraving and around the rivets, drybrushing on the edges, slight scuffing in the places where the crew walked over the vehicle, and dust with mud on the fenders and the running gear.
This is an accessory set for advanced modelers. It does not hold a model or a kit, and glue and paints are not included in the package.
