The subject can be used on a floor as well as on a wall, which matters with tiling: a tiled wall turns an ordinary room into a kitchen, a washroom, the sanitary back rooms of a factory or a butcher's shop, that is spaces with a character of their own that appear in dioramas only rarely.
While wallpaper suggests a living room, tiling signals at once a working space where water is dealt with. It is enough to tile the lower part of the wall up to about half the height of a figure and leave the rest in plaster - this simple division is typical of period kitchens and workshops and places a scene readably. A combination with the same pattern on the floor then unifies the room.
Around a sink, pipework and door jambs cut out a paper template and only then trim the subject - correcting a cut on a finished wall is needless work. Run the cut along a joint, so that it is not visible. Complete the upper edge of the tiling with a thin strip or at least with a suggested shadow, so that the division does not come across as stuck on. Finally darken the joints and add dirt toward the floor, because it is precisely there that the most of it collects in reality.
