Plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw.V Panther medium tank in the Ausf.D variant from Zvezda in 1:35 scale. The model offers a crisp surface texture, multi-part drive sprockets and idler wheels, individual track links and side skirts. The kit is meant to be glued and painted.
The Panther was one of the most successful German medium tanks of the Second World War. The Ausf.D version was the first production variant and went into action for the first time in 1943 at Kursk. It combined steeply sloped armor, a long 7.5 cm gun and good mobility; the early machines still suffered from teething troubles. Even so, the sloped armor and the powerful gun made it a much feared opponent and the model for the whole later series of Panther variants.
Assemble the individual track links once the running gear is finished; because of the pronounced sag of the upper track run it is best to glue them only after the wheels have dried. Finish the wheels and the lower hull before you close the hull. Use liquid cement for plastic, primer and an airbrush; a dark yellow base with camouflage patterns in green and brown suggests itself. Build the weathering with a wash and pigments, and concentrate the dust and mud on the running gear and the fenders. The individual track links make it possible to capture the typical sag of the track between the road wheels faithfully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
