A resin pair of door panels for the Bavarian two-door sedan of the 02 series in the earlier version, that is for cars before the mid-1970s update.
Responsibility details are not available.
The interior of the Munich two-door sedan changed over eleven years of production considerably more than it seems at first glance. Built from 1966 on a shortened floor of the New Class, the car went through a reworking in the mid-1970s that touched the trim of the side doors as well: the armrest was shaped differently, the window winder moved and the breakdown of the upholstered area changed. This pair of parts is aimed at the earlier form, that is at cars from the end of the 1960s and the start of the 1970s.
A production plastic model molds the sides of the cabin as a single tub, on which the trim is suggested only by shallow relief. The offset of the storage pocket, the sharp edge of the armrest and the fine texture of the covering all disappear. The casting carries these areas as separate pieces, so that a real step forms between the panel and the door frame, which can be played out in two shades once painted.
The difference between the early and the late fittings is clearly noticeable on the real car and builders watch for it, because it gives away the year of the whole model. Anyone building a car with round tail lights needs exactly this variant. Recommended procedure: free the casting of the casting gate, degrease the surface, try the fit into the cabin dry and level any overhang with a file before painting.
Cars from the first years had the cabin kept austere, with a large area of painted sheet metal above the trim and a textile or leatherette field in the middle of the panel. That contrast of two materials does more on a model than the finest gloss of paint, because the eye recognizes at once that it is looking at an interior and not at a flat insert.
