This is an accessory set, not a vehicle model. It contains the front wheels of the tractor and a spare to go with them, a part that comes into its own on a model particularly well: on the real vehicle the spare wheel was carried in plain view, often leaning against the side or stowed behind the cab, and on a model it is a feature that by itself says this is a working machine and not a show piece. Against a plastic part, a resin casting has a sharper rendering of the tread and no mold parting seam that would have to be removed from a circular part.
The Sd.Kfz. 9 was the largest German half-track tractor of the Second World War. It was used for recovering and towing heavy vehicles, for towing the heaviest guns and as a chassis for cranes. At the front it had an unpowered wheeled axle and at the rear a large tracked running gear. One tractor was usually not enough to recover a tank, so two or three were coupled together, which makes a rewarding scene for a diorama.
The set is for modelers of German heavy vehicles who are finishing off the front axle and the equipment of the vehicle. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic.
It is not a vehicle model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
