An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the experimental Object 490A project; the package holds more than 450 parts, a precisely shaped turret and a lower hull produced with slide-mold technology, and photo-etched parts. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Object 490A was a Soviet experimental main battle tank project, designed as an alternative variant to the Object 490 project. Compared with it, it was to add another crew member and to carry an externally mounted gun; the biggest change was a completely reworked turret, with minor modifications to the running gear. The project was ended late in 1984 in favor of a newer development program. The tank never reached series production, so it is an interesting example of an experimental line of design.
With armored vehicles, finish and paint the running gear before you close up the hull. Glue the parts with thin plastic cement and the fine photo-etched accessories with super glue. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush; with an experimental machine that saw no documented combat service, reach for a period Soviet khaki or a free modeling interpretation. Bring out the broken-up surface with dry brushing and a wash and dust the running gear with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
