Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory set in 1:35 scale for the model of the LVT amphibious tracked vehicle. The castings represent improvised add-on armor made of bags filled with sand, laid on the sides and the superstructure of the vehicle. The set is cut for the LVT kit from AFV Club. The same manufacturer also makes a parallel version meant for Italeri kits, so pick the one matching your base model by the name.
The LVT is an amphibious tracked carrier whose design came from the requirement to carry cargo or a crew from the water straight onto the beach. Protection of the hull was inherently weak on these vehicles, so layering makeshift means onto exposed places was common practice. The resin castings render the coarse texture of jute bags, their sag and their irregular stacking, that is exactly what gives a model depth to scale and sets it apart from a straight build from the box.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces down wet with your airways protected. It is glued with super glue, and once that has set the joint is firm and can no longer be corrected, so try the positions dry first. A primer follows. Sandbag cloth looks best when the individual bags do not all get exactly the same shade, as slight unevenness is precisely what reads as convincing. A wash belongs in the folds and a lighter dry brush on the seams. On an amphibious vehicle it also pays to add traces of water, that is dried salt marks and sand settled in the hollows.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
