A model of the MK-19 automatic grenade launcher of 40 mm caliber in 1:35 scale. An accessory to equipment and to dioramas with infantry.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MK-19 is an American automatic grenade launcher of 40 mm caliber. Grenades are fed into it in a belt from a box hung by the weapon, so it fires in bursts and covers an area that a single hand-held weapon would not manage. It is used in two usual forms: on a low tripod as a squad weapon and in a mount on a vehicle, typically in a cupola or on a ring mount of an off-road or an armored vehicle. It is a heavy, massive weapon with an angular receiver and a pronounced ammunition box, which makes it an easily recognizable element on a model.
In 1:35 scale the MK-19 suits the roof of a vehicle and the ground beside a figure alike. The shape of the weapon is so characteristic that a viewer will recognize it even from a distance, and the box with its belt will give a scene action. Check the range of parts supplied and the way of mounting in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder; with the barrel and the thin parts of the mount work carefully, so that they do not bend. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply a base coat. The weapon is usually painted in a dark shade close to black or in a muted green; lighten the edges and the moving parts slightly with a metallic shade, because on a real weapon those wear first. The recommended glue and the assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
To armored vehicles, off-road vehicles and into scenes with infantry in 1:35 scale. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
