The Eduard 1:35 Sd. Kfz. 167 StuG IV photo-etched detail set adds fine metal parts in a scale thickness to a plastic kit of the German assault gun. It is not a model but an accessory for a kit you have already bought.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for building the German Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun in 1:35 scale. It is an accessory, not a model in its own right: photo-etched parts in thin metal sheet replace or complete the plastic components of the kit where injection-molded plastic cannot hold a realistic thickness of material — on brackets, grilles, sheet covers and small external equipment. Eduard makes several different sets for the same machine: a full photo-etched set, a smaller pre-painted set of the Zoom range, separate masks and a combined bundle that brings several sets together. The extent is decided by the designation of the range, so compare the exact designation of the product when choosing.
The Sturmgeschütz IV, with the official designation Sd. Kfz. 167, came about at the end of 1943 by joining the fixed fighting superstructure of an assault gun with the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. The armament consisted of a 7.5 cm gun mounted in the front wall of the casemate; the vehicle had no rotating turret, so coarse aiming to the sides was done by traversing the whole hull. It served for direct fire support of infantry and for destroying armored targets, and it was produced until the end of the war.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, and never break them out. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp and straight. Glue photo-etched metal with cyanoacrylate glue or with a two-part epoxy — ordinary modeling cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer, otherwise the paint will chip off during handling. On a vehicle, plan the order of the work in advance: glue and paint whatever is to be under the superstructure or behind a grille before you close the assembly up. At the end, washes and pigments will help, as they settle in the pressings and grilles and create dust and deposits of mud.
It is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
