A set of wheels of the early shape for the four-wheeled Sd.Kfz 222 armored car in the version for the Hobby Boss kit, pattern type 1. 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The same armored car is offered in 1:35 by several makers at once and each has solved the axles in its own way. The diameter of the stub, the depth it sits to and the shape of the hub differ enough that a casting prepared for one kit will not seat on another without sanding. The brand deals with this plainly: it issues every tread pattern in two versions and the name always says which kit it aims at. This package belongs to the model from Hobby Boss and carries the first of the three patterns.
The set holds a full run of wheels with a spare added. Before you set about gluing, look into the hole in the hub and compare it with the stub on the model; if it is tight, widen it with a drill 0.1 mm larger and never by force. With resin parts this pays even where plastic would forgive, because the material is hard and under strain it cracks rather than gives. Mark the hole beforehand and drill slowly by hand, since an electric drill smears the material with its heat and the edge frays.
The wheels look best when the shade of the rubber is not repeated on all four: leave one a shade lighter and another with a heavier layer off the ground. A real car did not get four new tires at once; the one that had served out its life was the one replaced. A mismatched run therefore looks truer than a carefully unified four. The kit of the car is ordered separately, as the set changes only the running part of the chassis.
