A set of figures cast in resin in 1:35 scale, supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a model of a vehicle but separate figures for a display case or for a diorama. The name gives two figures, a tankman and a boy, and a dating of 1939 to 1943. The number of parts, the division of the casting and any base are stated on the box.
With a multi-figure set it pays to start by sorting the parts by the figure they belong to — with small hands and heads it is otherwise easy to mix them up. Wash all the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surface on abrasive paper, so that the figure stands straight. Sand wet and protect your airways. It is glued with superglue, and gaps are filled with putty and sanded. Before you glue anything, stand both figures dry side by side and find a composition in which they really communicate with one another.
The difference between the figures is an opportunity for painting: a worn working overall is built up differently from civilian clothing, which tends to be more faded and to have other shades. For both the same procedure applies — primer, base tone, shadow in the folds, highlight on the edges. Do the flesh in heavily thinned layers, and on a child's face go noticeably more gently with the shadows, otherwise the figure ages. Tie the whole scene together with a matte clear coat and, if you wish, a light application of dust pigment at the feet, so that the figures visually belong to the terrain.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
