A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, intended to refine a plastic kit of the heavy infantry fighting vehicle T-15 in the version with a combat module fitted with a 57 mm cannon. It is neither a kit nor a stand-alone model: the package holds a photo-etched sheet with parts that replace thick plastic shapes and add elements that cannot be produced by injection molding in plastic. According to the code series it is a full photo-etched set, that is the most extensive variant of photo-etched parts that Eduard issues for a single vehicle. Smaller pre-painted sets always aim at one selected detail, while a full set works with the whole vehicle.
The T-15 is a Russian heavy infantry fighting vehicle built on the universal tracked Armata platform. It differs from older vehicles of its class in the layout of the hull: the power pack is moved to the front, with the crew and troop compartment behind it and with rear doors of its own. The weapon system is arranged as an unmanned combat module operated from the hull, in this version with an automatic 57 mm cannon. The silhouette is therefore taller and more angular than that of lighter tracked carriers.
Separate the parts from the fret with a scalpel or photo-etch scissors on a hard surface, never with nippers. Make the bends in an etch bender or between two blades so that the edge is straight and sharp. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied with the tip of a pin, and on larger areas the gel variant with a longer open time helps. Degrease the brass before painting and spray a base primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal. Fit the brackets, grilles and lifting eyes on the hull before you close the vehicle up and start on the weathering. The thin photo-etched edges of the cooling grilles and the covers will then stand out markedly once a wash and dry pigments have been applied.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
