A street lamp in 1:35 scale as an accessory for a diorama. It gives a scene a vertical element and a legible sense of scale against figures and equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
Street lighting is one of those elements that turn a piece of base into a particular place. A lamp is vertical and tall, so it breaks up the horizontal build of a scene and gives the eye a scale: from it the viewer knows how big the figure or vehicle standing beside it is. It is also a rewarding carrier of narrative detail. A bent post, a cracked shade or a snapped bracket tell what happened in the scene without your having to add more figures.
A lamp belongs at the edge of a road or a sidewalk, not in the middle of an open area. Place it so that it does not cover the main model from the angle the scene will most often be viewed from. It is a good idea to sink the base into the ground: drill a hollow, glue the part into it and hide the joint with terrain. The post has to stand upright, or the whole scene looks tilted, so prop it while the glue sets.
Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; cyanoacrylate holds reliably on metal and on resin and the joint will take even a thin post. Cut the excess material and the marks of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. A primer works well, then the shade of the finish over it and finally restrained weathering: corrosion at the foot where water collects and lighter chipping on the edges.
An accessory for a diorama is supplied. The base, figures, equipment, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
