What the set is for

Street lighting and insulators give a scene a sense of scale and of being inhabited. A light on a mast or on a bracket by a wall gives away at once that this is a street, a factory or a station, and insulators make it possible to suggest a run of line where bare poles would look empty.

Field of use

The set suits city views, factory and warehouse building, railroad scenes and dioramas with military vehicles, where it serves as a background. Lighting also leads the observer's eye along a street and helps to establish the direction in which the view is to be read. One or two pieces are enough; a dense row of masts on a small board looks distracting rather than believable.

Building and painting tips

Cut away excess material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the spot. Wash and degrease the surface before painting so that the paint holds. Try the lights and insulators out dry on the board first and only then drill the holes for fitting them according to the result.

• fit the thin parts only once the groundwork is finished, so that they do not snap off
• the line between the insulators can be suggested with thin wire or a hair-fine filament
• masts look believable with uneven wear and rust at the foot
• the inside of a shade can be painted in a light tone so that it does not look dead

Who it is for

The set is meant for builders of dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale who work on the surroundings of a model and not only on the machine itself. Paints, glue, wire for the line, the board and the model are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
