A superstructure roof for the early-production StuG III Ausf. G in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. A resin part, not a vehicle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory part, not a vehicle model. It replaces the roof of the fighting superstructure with a part matching the early form of the G version. On an assault gun the roof is the surface you look down onto and the one that carries most of the external equipment: hatches, vision blocks, the ventilator and, on later batches, further changes. That is exactly why the production batches differ most there, and exactly why getting it wrong shows most. Against plastic, a resin casting has a sharper rendering of the welds, hatches and rivets, and above all it matches a particular production period.
The StuG III was a German tracked machine without a rotating turret, with the gun mounted in the front wall of a low superstructure. It was originally meant to support the infantry, but with a long barrel it became one of the most effective anti-tank weapons of the war, not least because it was cheaper to produce and quicker to build than a tank. The G version was the most widespread and was built for a long time, so early and late vehicles differ in many particulars.
The set is for modelers of German vehicles who are building a particular production batch and want the details to match it. The work calls for cutting into the plastic part, so a sure hand with knife and saw is useful.
It is not a vehicle model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
