The T-72 is a Soviet main battle tank that from the 1970s spread into the armies of many countries. The designation T-72M denotes the export configuration, the one a modeler most often meets on vehicles outside the Soviet army. It is exactly on tank models that it shows when the small covers, eyes and sheet parts are of thin metal instead of plastic.
Photo-etched parts for a T-72M model in 1:35 scale. Its classification under photo-etched parts confirms that it is a thin metal fret from which the individual parts are separated and bent to shape. The extent of the parts and their placement on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions, along with the kit the set is shaped for.
The parts are attached to the fret by thin tabs. Cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, which bend the metal. Level the mark left by the tab with a needle file. Make the bends along the marked engraving; they come out best in a bending tool, but the flat jaws of pliers will also serve. Super glue applied in a small amount with a needle or a piece of wire is used. Degrease the metal with spirit before painting and apply a base color intended for metal, otherwise the coat will rub off during handling.
The tank kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
