The Tiger I in the Ausf. E version as a plastic kit in 1:35 scale. The best-known armored vehicle of the Second World War, with an eighty-eight-millimeter gun and running gear with interleaved wheels.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Tiger came about as an answer to the Soviet tanks that the German forces met in 1941, and it went into production in haste. It was given a gun derived from the celebrated anti-aircraft piece of eighty-eight millimeters caliber, which could hit a target at a distance where the opponent still had no chance of replying. The armor was thick, but vertical, without any modern slope; the bet was on thickness, not on angle. The price for all of it was a weight of over fifty tons, demanding maintenance and a thirst that often left the machines abandoned without fuel. Barely fifteen hundred of them were built, and even so the Tiger became the most photographed tank of the war.
Plastic sprues with the parts of the hull, the turret, the interleaved road wheels and the tracks, and a sheet of decals with them. The model is assembled with polystyrene cement; paints are not included in the package.
The interleaved wheels are both the charm and the trap of this subject: they have to sit in several layers over one another, so it pays to try fitting them dry and only then to glue them. The track then runs over the drive sprocket and the idler wheel, and when the last link does not meet, the mistake is usually right at the start of the row. With late-war German equipment there is moreover the option of Zimmerit paste on the hull and marked weathering - both are applied only after the base color.
