A light gray paint from the Mr.Paint line. The name Barley Grey belongs to a light gray associated with British aircraft from the time when the colorful camouflage of the upper surfaces gave way to all-gray finishes. The number FS 36314 refers to the Federal Standard chart: the leading three marks a matte finish, and the six that follows places the shade among the grays.
Wash and degrease the model before painting, as on a greasy surface the finish peels off at the first masking. Stir the bottle thoroughly before work, since the pigment settles at the bottom. Light grays are sensitive to uneven coverage, so spray in thin coats and let the surface set between passes. Weaker coats will not drown the engraved panel lines, while a single heavy one buries them. Choose the thinner and the cleaner according to the manufacturer's recommendation and flush the airbrush out as soon as the work is done.
Mark a sharp boundary between areas with a mask stuck down before spraying and pull it off slowly and at an angle as soon as the paint has set. Spray a soft transition freehand or over a mask raised so that it does not touch the surface. A large uniform area comes to life with a faint lightening of the middle of the panels. Keep the shading of the engraving restrained, as on a light gray every line shows more than a modeler expects.
The package holds the paint. Thinner, an airbrush, masking material and other aids are not part of it, unless stated otherwise. Spray in a well-ventilated room, protect your airways and store the bottle closed and out of the reach of children.
