Trenches are among the most typical images of the First World War. The front then halted for long months in a system of trenches, communication passages and dugouts, and the entrance to a trench was the place the way into it led through. The set is aimed thematically at precisely this display.
The base is a ready terrain ground in 1:35 scale. It sets the shape of the display and its boundaries, so modeling soil falls away and you can concentrate on painting, aging and the arrangement of the figures and the equipment. A framed shape also makes carrying a finished scene easier.
Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the base and sand the surface. Choose the paints and the glue according to the material of the base; the particular procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Muddy ground looks best in several close shades of brown with a dark glaze in the recesses; on the wooden items a dry brush on the edges has proved itself, and a final light dusting evens the scene out.
For modelers who build a First World War scene in 1:35 scale and want to give their figures the setting they belong in. It will also serve as a display ground under a smaller group of figures. Even a beginner will manage it, because the most laborious part, shaping the terrain, is done.
Paints, glue and modeling tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
