This is not a vehicle model but an accessory set for one. It is intended for the kit of the modern American JLTV tactical vehicle in the version with a heavy weapon station, which the same manufacturer produces. The point of such a set is always the same: to swap the parts that cannot be made fine enough in injection-molded plastic — grilles, brackets, loops, small equipment — for a rendering that matches reality in scale.
The JLTV, that is the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, is an American light tactical vehicle with an armored cab, which in part of its service replaced the older HMMWV cross-country vehicles. Against those it offers substantially better crew protection, a higher load capacity and a more modern chassis, at the cost of greater size and weight. The version designated the Heavy Guns Carrier carries a remotely operated weapon station on the roof, which the operator works from inside the cab through a camera system. It is this superstructure that is most visible on a model and that calls most for fine parts.
Go through the accessory set before you start gluing the base kit — some of the parts are fitted into assemblies that are later closed up, after which you can no longer reach them. The fine metal parts are glued with super glue, not with cement for plastic; apply it in a minimal quantity with a pin or a thin wire. Clean the plastic stubs left by the removed original parts right back, or the new part will not seat properly. Finally the whole assembly is primed with a single coat, so that the plastic and the metal take the paint the same way.
