The M-ATV is an American armored vehicle from the family of machines resistant to mines and roadside blasts. Compared with older vehicles of this category it was lighter and more agile off road, which is why it came into its own in mountainous and broken terrain. Its hull sits high and is shaped so as to deflect a blast beneath the vehicle away from the crew; the look of the machine is defined by its high ground clearance and large wheels. The M1240A1 version is one of its production forms.
The abbreviation denotes a remotely operated weapon station on the roof of the vehicle. The gunner operates it from inside through a screen and a controller, so there is no need to expose the body above the outline of the vehicle. The station carries day and night observation channels and a sight, thanks to which it can be fired on the move and at night. On a model it is a striking feature that a viewer notices before anything else on the roof.
This is an add-on set for a plastic kit in 1:35 scale. The extent of the parts, their position and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions. If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic will not bond them; use cyanoacrylate glue applied in minute drops. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part, sand the remainder and wash and degrease the surface before painting.
This is an add-on set. The vehicle kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
