A model of the American M2 assault boat in 1:35 scale is a stand-alone small craft of engineer units for scenes of a river crossing. It will complete figures and vehicles in the same scale superbly.

A model of the small M2 assault boat, of the kind engineer units of the American army used to carry infantry across rivers and water obstacles. In 1:35 scale the boat comes out as a full stand-alone object, which can be built either as a small scene in itself or as an accessory for figures, vehicles and a riverbank diorama.
The M2 assault boat was a simple small craft for carrying a group of soldiers across a watercourse. Engineer units used it in the Second World War during crossing operations, usually several at a time and with a paddling squad on board. That is exactly why in modeling it appears most often in scenes by a river, on a bank or loaded on the bed of a truck. You will find no complicated machinery on it, which makes it a rewarding object that is quick to build.
Separate the smaller parts carefully, clean them up and wash them in warm soapy water before painting — that makes it easier for the base to adhere. The hull is visible from the inside as well as the outside, so it pays to fill and sand the joints carefully and only then paint. Paint the interior and the benches before the boat is covered by a load or by figures. A dark wash into the corners and fine drybrushing of the edges, where the paint would really rub off, suit the olive green finish. For a scene by water it helps to suggest the waterline, mud on the bottom and dried water marks; a matte varnish will even the surface out at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
