An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M113 armored personnel carrier in the ACAV version from Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The model faithfully captures the characteristic features of the ACAV version, above all the added armored shield and the cupola around the main machine gun. Besides the exterior it also holds interior equipment, crew seats and the engine, so part of the interior can be made visible. Figures in realistic poses are included as well. It is a kit to be assembled and painted, not a finished model.
The M113 was an American tracked armored personnel carrier with an aluminum hull, one of the most widely used vehicles of its kind. The ACAV version (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) came about as a combat-strengthened modification of the basic carrier: it added armored shields and further machine guns so that the vehicle could stand up better in direct combat. This variant made its mark during the Vietnam War.
First finish the interior and the running gear, and only then close the hull. Glue the parts with polystyrene cement, and the small parts with a light touch. For a faithful look, apply a base coat, a matte coat under the decals and weathering; make the mud and dust effects on the running gear and the sides with washes and pigments. Paint the figures separately. The green American shades will give the vehicle its period character.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
