Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIa fighter in 1:72 scale. According to the name this release is aimed at the machines of successful fighter pilots - and it is the focus of the markings that sets the boxing apart from the other Mk.IIa releases. The model is meant to be glued and painted.
The Spitfire Mk.II was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin XII engine and from 1940 gradually replaced the older Mk.I with the squadrons. It was built at the large-scale works at Castle Bromwich. The version marked with the letter a carried machine gun armament in the wing, without cannon. Machines of this type flew during the fighting over Britain and in the offensive operations of 1941 that followed, when a good many pilots reached high tallies of air victories.
Before gluing, try the parts dry and level any overhang with a file; on short-run kits that is standard practice, not a fault. Glue with thin plastic cement. The camouflage of 1940 and 1941 has hard transitions, so mask with tape or putty. Personal emblems and markings are the main draw of this edition, so a truly smooth gloss base is needed under the decals - otherwise silvering appears. After application use a decal softener and bring the surface into line with a matte overcoat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
