Injection-molded plastic kit of the American M40 155 mm self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model captures the massive artillery vehicle on a tracked chassis and offers a well-developed barrel movement and a folding rear spade. The M40 was an important step in the mechanization of American army artillery: it combined a heavy 155 mm gun with the proven tracked chassis derived from the Sherman tank. The armor was light, because the machine was meant to act as a long-range weapon from a safe distance behind the front; the range ran to many kilometers. The M40 was used at the end of the Second World War and then in the Korean War.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the open fighting compartment with the gun before you finish the hull. Clean up and align the band tracks carefully. After the base coat, bring out the rivets and the detail with a wash and add dust and mud pigments for convincing field weathering. The figures supplied will bring a displayed model or a diorama to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
