A set of workable individual track links of the T158 type in 1:35. This is not a model of a tank but an accessory that replaces the tracks from the box of the base kit. The separate links join into a continuous workable track, so the sag between the return rollers and the wrap around the drive sprocket and the idler can be captured faithfully on the model. Flat soft tracks usually spoil this part of a vehicle's silhouette, whereas with individual track links the result is considerably more convincing.
The T158 is a later type of track for tanks of the Abrams family, used on the M1A1, M1A1 HA and M1A2 versions. Against the earlier type it has a different shape of track pads and guide horns, so swapping the types can be seen on a model at close range. On the real vehicle the track is one of the most heavily loaded assemblies: the pads wear down, the metal parts polish from contact with the road and the underside of the vehicle is caked with dust and mud.
Clean the links of mold seams and burrs while they are still on the fret, otherwise the track will not go together straight. Assemble in longer sections and keep measuring the length against the running gear of the model. Painting is more convenient off the hull: a dark base, metal highlights with a dry brush on the edges, then dusting with pigments and finally polishing the running surfaces. Fix the sag between the rollers with thin cement or a small weight until the joints set.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
