A three-part resin box from Black Dog: two human figures completed by an animal. It is accordingly the most extensive of the related boxes in this group. The trio is a finished small scene in itself: it needs no more than a base a few centimeters across and calls for neither a vehicle nor a backdrop.
With a three-element composition the rule is not to set it in a row. A scalene triangle works best, with two figures closer together and the third element, typically the animal, standing a little to one side and closing the whole with the way it faces. A difference in the eye level of the two people and the low silhouette of the dog give the scene three different levels, so that depth arises on a small area which two figures of the same height could never create.
Wash all the castings and let them dry through, and only then cut off the gates. Plan the painting so that you finish both human figures first and the animal last, as it calls for an entirely different technique and rhythm. Mix the skin of the two people from a shared base but tune them to different shades, so that they do not look like siblings. Apply the final dusting to all three castings at the same time and with the same strength, because that is the only thing that visually joins the scene into one place and time.
The box consists of resin castings without paints; the base and terrain material are added by the builder.
