The accessory 1:35 Vietnamese field helmet is a small casting for altering figures in 1:35 scale. It replaces the helmet molded on a figure or serves as an object set down in a scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling accessory of its own in 1:35 scale: a casting of the Vietnamese field helmet of the kind Vietnamese units wore in the 1960s and 1970s. It is not a kit or a finished figure but a single small object meant for altering figures and for filling out dioramas.
The Vietnamese field helmet has an unmistakable shape: a shallow dome with a smooth brim projecting all the way round, so that in profile it looks more like a hat than a military helmet. For scenes from Southeast Asia it is an immediately legible mark, and without it a figure simply does not look right. Production figures tend to have it molded only roughly: the brim is usually too thick for the scale and the dome inaccurate in shape, which a separate casting puts right.
Separate the casting from the casting block with a saw or a sharp knife, and do not snap it off. Wash a resin part in lukewarm water with detergent before painting and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue; a plastic one is joined with ordinary modeling cement. Wet-sand and do so with respiratory protection. A coat of primer is a must. The thin brim of the helmet takes only weak coats of paint applied in several passes: a thick coat would ruin the scale thickness at once. Choose the shade according to the particular unit and the scene you are building. Paint the helmet on its own before you set it on the figure, and unify the surface with a matte varnish at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The figure, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
