Star Decals 1:35 Vietnam Gun Trucks, part four carries markings for improvised armored escort trucks with a quad mount of .50 caliber machine guns.
Responsibility details are not available.
The escort trucks called gun trucks are among the most individual machines of the Vietnam conflict, and this Star Decals set is devoted to the version with a quad mount of .50 caliber machine guns. The name also gives the vehicle names EASY RIDER and YOUNG CRUSADERS. The decals are an accessory to a finished model in 1:35 scale.
Supplying the units in South Vietnam depended on road convoys, which were vulnerable where the road narrowed or ran below a slope. The transport units therefore began to armor trucks with steel plate by their own efforts and to fit heavy firepower on the bed. The quad mount of .50 caliber machine guns was originally created as an anti-aircraft weapon, but against ground targets it could cover the slope above a road within a few seconds. The crews named their vehicles and painted the lettering and the artwork by hand right in the field, so they differed from machine to machine.
Hand-painted lettering tended to sit on roughly welded plate, and that can be imitated. Prepare a smooth gloss area under the decal, even it out with the surroundings using a matte varnish once it has dried, and only then add scuffed paint and traces of use, so that the lettering looks like part of the armor rather than a sticker on it.
The model and the paints are not supplied with the decals.
