An injection-molded plastic set in 1:35 scale from Master Box on the theme of transporting ammunition to the front. The set contains two figures - an adolescent boy and a girl - and a cart hitched behind a bicycle and loaded with ammunition. According to the manufacturer the package also includes a photo-etched part. The figures and the cart are supplied on sprues and have to be glued and painted.
The Volkssturm was a German home guard set up at the end of the Second World War, when old men and very young boys alike were called up into it. The set captures the oppressive reality of the last weeks of the war, when even adolescents were put to work on supply and defense. It is a factual reminder of the effect of total war on the civilian population, not a celebration of fighting.
Separate the small parts and the photo-etched metal carefully and clean up the mold seams. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Paint the civilian and field clothing with acrylics and bring out the breakup of the cloth with a wash and drybrushing. Weather the cart and its load with dust and mud shades. A final matte varnish unifies the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
