Bare road wheels with a weighted footprint for kits of the VW Kübelwagen in 1:35 scale, in the rendition designated as type 1.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement road wheels for models of the German-built cross-country car VW Kübelwagen, in the type 1 variant. The little word weighted says that the contact patch of the rubber is flattened exactly as it looks under a standing vehicle. This is the basic rendition of the wheel with no further qualifiers in the designation.
Type 82 was built from 1940 and its simplicity gave it an unusually long life. An angular body of pressed sheet metal, the engine at the rear and air cooling meant that even a poorly equipped field unit could repair the vehicle. After the capitulation hundreds of examples remained scattered across Europe and went on serving with civil administrations, with farmers and with newly built armies, until they fell apart or until spare parts ran out. The design foundation survived far longer still: the platform of the people's car was built at the factory for decades and later cross-country models of the marque carry its trace too.
Check that all the wheels sit in one plane, or the vehicle will wobble. Paint the tires in a muted gray-brown shade, pick the crests of the tread out carefully with a lighter tone and settle the lower part with dust that matches the surface under the vehicle.
