Aoshima 1:700 — a self-adhesive wooden deck for the battleships Fuso and Yamashiro. It is not a model but an accessory that replaces the painting of the deck planks.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for models of the Japanese battleships Fuso and Yamashiro in 1:700 scale. It is a self-adhesive sheet with the structure of deck planks printed on it, cut exactly to the shape of the individual deck areas. It is stuck onto the plastic deck of the model and thus replaces the most difficult part of the painting — the regular pattern of the wood, which with a brush is practically impossible to do convincingly and evenly. It is not a kit: the model of the ship itself has to be obtained separately.
The wooden decks of Japanese battleships take up a large part of the visible area of a model and catch the attention at once. A deck painted by hand in 1:700 scale usually looks either too uniform or, on the contrary, exaggeratedly contrasting. The printed sheet has the pattern in the correct scale, keeps a constant tone over the whole area and at the same time lines up with the cutouts for the turrets, the superstructures and the deck equipment, so the laborious cutting to a template falls away.
Fuso and Yamashiro were two battleships of the class of the same name, brought into service in the second half of the 1910s. In the 1930s they went through an extensive modernization in which they gained the conspicuously tall and complex command superstructure typical of Japanese battleships of that time. Both ships were lost in October 1944 during the fighting in the Philippines.
This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
