A resin figure in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand PANZER ART, the manufacturer's part number FI35-221. It represents the ammunition carrier of a Waffen-SS machine gun crew. The manufacturer keeps it as a single figure and complements it with a machine gunner under the part number FI35-220; the two men together are offered as the set FI35-222.
The MG42 was a German general-purpose machine gun introduced in 1942. A high rate of fire and a quick barrel change made it the mainstay of the infantry platoon, but it came at a cost: the weapon ran through belts very fast and the barrel overheated. That is why the crew was not the gunner alone. The ammunition carrier hauled the boxes of belts and the spare barrels and fed the belt during firing; without him the gun fell silent after a few bursts. Figures like this are what give a diorama its point, because they show the weapon as the work of several men.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water, cut off the casting blocks and sand wet. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply the paint over a primer. Waffen-SS camouflage patterns are demanding for figure painters: work from the base tone to the individual blotches with a fine brush and finally unify the whole with a thin glaze so that the blotches do not look stuck on.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
