A photo-etched accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for 1:35 scale. The parts of thin sheet metal replace simplified plastic parts of the Dodge WC-52 model and add elements that are as thin as sheet metal in reality, so injection-molded plastic cannot capture them faithfully. The set is fitted onto a model you already have and moves it one level up.
The Dodge WC-52 belongs to the extensive family of American three-quarter-ton vehicles of the WC series, which served with the Allied armies in the Second World War in dozens of adaptations from an ambulance to a command car. The WC-52 is an open truck with a cargo bed for carrying men and material, equipped with a front winch. It is precisely the winch that sets it apart from the otherwise very similar WC-51. The vehicles of the WC series were powered by a six-cylinder inline engine and had all-wheel drive, which gave them good cross-country performance.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel against a hard surface and level the burrs with a fine file. Make the bends in a bender or between razor blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest amount; an excess floods the detail and is hard to remove. Degrease the metal before painting and spray a primer on. With vehicles of this type it pays to have the interior of the cargo bed and the instrument panel finished before the model is closed up. For weathering, a dark wash into the recesses suits well, as do dust pigments on the wheel arches and the underside of the cargo bed and fine rubbing of the edges with a dry brush.
