The real subject

The Kfz. 1 was a light standardized off-road car of the German armed forces, built among others by the Stoewer company. Vehicles of this type served for liaison and reconnaissance, so it also works well in a diorama beside heavy vehicles. The designation early pattern in the name refers to the older version of the wheels.

What the set offers

This is an accessory set of wheels, that is, parts that take the place of the wheels from the box. Replacement wheels tend to be the main reason why a model looks better once built than it would out of the kit: the tread, the sidewall lettering and the shape of the rim are among the places on which a viewer's eye unwittingly focuses on a small vehicle. The exact number of parts and the kit the wheels are cut for are on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions; before buying, compare the size with your model.

Building and painting tips

Before gluing, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, or the paint may not hold. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the shape is not disturbed. Super glue works well for seating the wheels.
