A set of resin exhaust stubs for the American Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter in the M and N versions, 1:72 scale, from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exactly cast detail part that will replace the coarser exhausts from the base kit with a more accurate shape with drilled-out openings.
The P-40 was one of the best-known American fighters of the opening years of the Second World War, famous for the shark mouth carried by the units that flew it. The late M and N versions were powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 twelve-cylinder V12, whose exhaust gases were led away by rows of short stubs along the sides of the nose. The replacement resin stubs have crisper detail and open mouths, so the engine area of the model looks more realistic than the solid part from an injection mold.
Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the exhausts with a combination of rust, dark metal and burnt steel shades and add weathered pigment and soot streaks running backward.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
