With period figures you are bound by the cut of the kit and by the palette. Here nothing of the sort applies, and that is why genre figures have become a popular exercise in painting: you can combine metal, fabric and skin on a single casting and look for the contrast between them. The 1:35 scale meanwhile keeps the figure at a size that can be tied in with ordinary modeling hardware, if you build a scene on the border between genres.
Metallic paints have heavy pigments, so stir them to the very last and apply them at a later stage; they are harder to overspray and mask. Metal surfaces come out best on a smooth, perfectly polished ground, so give attention to sanding the seams. An alternative is to paint the impression of metal purely with light and shadow, with no metallic pigment; on small areas that tends to be more legible. Wash the casting before painting, extract the dust after sanding and protect your airways.
