WSS-Panther Crew Taking A Break Set 1 is a figure set from Dynamo-Models in 1:35 scale on the theme of a resting crew of the German Panther tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure set focused on a quiet moment at a vehicle - the crew of a German Panther tank at rest. This type of subject is rewarding for a diorama: the figures are not in action, they hold relaxed poses and can be laid out more freely than a combat scene. The designation Set 1 suggests that in the manufacturer's range this is the first of a group; variants in other scales keep to the same theme. The abbreviation WSS in the name refers to the German Waffen-SS units of the Second World War and sets the period dress of the figures.
The Panzerkampfwagen V Panther was a German medium tank committed from 1943. It combined sloped armor with a long 7.5 cm gun barrel and was among the technically most interesting machines of its time, even though its powerplant and transmission gave crews and workshops trouble. The crew consisted of five men. Halts to replenish fuel and ammunition, to maintain the tracks and to eat took up considerably more of a tank crew's daily routine than the fighting itself, and it is precisely those moments that figure sets of this kind capture.
A rest scene stands or falls on the small things around the figures: a blanket on the hull, a mess tin, a tarpaulin, an open hatch. Place the figures so that at least two of them are aware of each other, and make use of the height of the vehicle - a figure seated on a fender or on the hull reads better than the whole group on the ground. Lay the assembly out dry and walk around it on all sides. If you paint the figures yourself, set the uniform apart in tone from the finish of the tank so that the figures do not merge with the hull, and tie the scene together only with a final gentle dusting.
