This item is not a vehicle model, but a set of small accessories in 1:35 scale. It holds miniatures of the German standard jerrycans of the Second World War period in the fuel version. Jerrycans are among the most frequently used details on vehicle models: they are fitted into brackets on the fenders and the sides of the hull, stowed on cargo beds or placed around a supply point in a diorama. The number of pieces in the package, the material of the parts and the way they attach are stated on the box.
The standard twenty-liter jerrycan established itself in the 1930s as the answer to fast and safe refueling in the field. Characteristic of it are the three handles on the top edge, which allow two cans to be carried in one hand and passed along a chain of people, the pressed cross on the sides, which stiffens the walls and leaves room for the contents to expand, and the quick closure operated by a lever with no need for tools. The design proved itself so well that it is still used in practically unchanged form today. The fuel version differed from the water one in its markings and in the arrangement of the closure.
Separate the parts carefully from the sprue gates and clean up the mating surfaces; on small objects a very fine file or abrasive paper is enough. Wash them before painting and use a primer, so that the paint holds on the smooth surface. Never paint all the cans the same: slight variations of shade and different degrees of wear look far more convincing than a uniform row. Create the chipping on the edges and the handles with the sponge technique or a fine brush, add a dark wash in the pressings and traces of rust at the closure. Improvised straps of thin wire or lead foil also come in handy for stowing them properly.
