Voyager Model 1:35 Churchill with the 3-inch gun — photo-etched fenders are an add-on set for a plastic kit you already own, not a standalone model. They replace thick plastic fenders with thin metal sheet on the AFV Club 35253 kit.

This set from Voyager Model holds parts of photo-etched metal and serves solely to detail the AFV Club 35253 plastic kit. It is not a model of the vehicle. Fenders are a rewarding place for photo-etched parts on armored subjects: in reality it is thin sheet, which can never be reduced faithfully in plastic, because it would not have the necessary strength. A metal replacement gives the edge a thickness that holds up even in a close-up photograph.
The Churchill was among the British infantry tanks with tracks run around the whole hull, which gave the vehicle its typical outline. On it the fenders over the tracks were long sheet-metal surfaces with supports, cut-outs for maintenance and strips; it is here that the difference between plastic and metal shows most on a model. The version with a casemate superstructure and the 3-inch gun of 76.2 mm caliber is an atypical Churchill and a subject sought after among modelers.
With long photo-etched parts flatness decides it. Lay the fender on a hard flat surface, place a metal ruler on it and take the bend along the whole length at once, not in sections, otherwise a wavy edge will result. A dry test on the hull is obligatory: only when the part lies against it without tension should you apply the cyanoacrylate, and at first only at a few spots, so that the position can still be corrected. If you want to bend or set the fenders slightly out of true to match real wear, do it before gluing and rather by pressing through a soft pad than with your fingers. Degrease all the metal before painting and use a thin primer.
The package holds photo-etched metal parts only. The plastic kit, the glue and the paints are not part of it.
