What the designation Panzerjäger means

In the Second World War the German term Panzerjäger was used for tank destroyers, that is vehicles built to destroy armored vehicles. They tended to be a design built on an already existing chassis, onto which a heavier gun was set, often into a superstructure with limited traverse. This group is a broad one: it takes in machines from small vehicles on light tank chassis to late heavy types, and they differ from one another in the shape of the superstructure, in their armament and in their equipment.

What the name says about the set

The name documents the 1:35 scale, a German subject and the Second World War period, but the particular type of machine is missing from it. Which kit the set belongs to is stated by the packaging and the manufacturer's instructions. With photo-etched accessories for ground vehicles that tends to be one particular model, and the parts will only fit another one with alterations.

How photo-etched parts are worked

The parts are held on the fret by small tags. Cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tag down; scissors would bend the sheet at the point of the cut. Make the fold along the marked score line over a metal edge or in a bender, in one movement. Work over a tray with a rim and hold the parts with tweezers. Make the joint with the tiniest drop of cyanoacrylate; cement for plastic will not bond metal. Degrease the sheet before painting and apply a base color meant for metal, otherwise the finish will come off during handling.
