A resin furniture set in one thirty-fifth: six castings for chairs fitted with a backrest. For a living room, a staff room or a yard.

Seating furniture is a quiet narrator in a diorama. A plain chair with a backrest stood in living rooms, pubs, offices and in the staffs of requisitioned houses, and that is exactly why it suits a civilian and a military view alike. Put a figure on it and the scene gains a center; leave it tipped over on the floor and it says more about what happened in the room than a description of the fighting.
The package is made up of six resin parts. The seat and the backrest tend to be thin, so take them out of the casting blocks with a cutter led along the layers and never bend them; resin cracks without warning. Align the legs by standing the finished chair on a glass plate and letting the glue go off; otherwise it will rock on the floor of the diorama and make the whole view uncertain.
Let the chair look older than the rest of the scene, because furniture was handed down in households. Complement a base in a mid-brown with thin glazes and a dry brush along the edges of the seat and the top rail of the backrest, where the wood rubs most. Darken the bends and joints so that the construction stands out. If you want the chair painted, choose a peeling coat over the wood: first a brown base, then a thin layer of masking fluid and over it the color, which you uncover in places with the tip of a toothpick once dry. The chair then settles between an earth floor and chipped plaster and will not read as a freshly bought piece. Finally dust the ends of the legs at the floor with exactly the pigment the boards or the earth beneath them carry.
