A self-adhesive detail set that transfers the texture of the Zimmerit antimagnetic coating faithfully onto a model. It is not a tank kit, but an accessory for models of the German Panther medium tank in the early production Ausf.A version. The pre-shaped adhesive film with its relief is stuck onto the relevant surfaces of the hull and turret and does away with the laborious hand-made texture in filler.
Zimmerit was a paste-like antimagnetic compound that the German army applied to the surface of armor during the Second World War to prevent magnetic anti-tank mines from sticking. The characteristic ridged texture became one of the recognition features of the tanks of that period and raises the credibility of a model markedly.
Clean and degrease the surfaces before applying. Lay the parts on exactly according to the shape of the armor and press them down well, so that the film follows the edges and hatches. The texture is then painted over along with the rest of the model; once the paint has dried it comes out with washes and a dry brush, which bring up the relief.
This is a detail accessory, not a stand-alone model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
