Eduard 1:350 aircraft carrier crew figures (present day) are a set of small deck personnel figures in 1:350 scale, intended to bring life to the deck of a large ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set contains figures of aircraft carrier deck personnel in 1:350 scale in a modern, that is postwar to present-day, form. It is not a model of a ship or an aircraft, but an accessory to be fitted to a finished model. The manufacturer is the Czech company Eduard. A sister set with a Second World War crew also exists, so when choosing, check which era your model belongs to.
Flight deck operations are run by a large body of personnel divided by task: aircraft directors, catapult and arresting gear crews, ground technicians, firefighters, ordnance handlers and signalmen. On present-day American ships the individual groups are distinguished by the color of their jersey and helmet, which is a rewarding detail for a modeler: a single deck can carry several strikingly different color groups. Without figures, even the best built 1:350 deck looks empty and loses the visual clue by which the viewer judges the real size of the ship.
In 1:350 scale an adult figure measures a fraction of a centimeter, so work with fine tweezers and a sharp scalpel over a mat from which a tiny part cannot roll away. Attach the figures with super glue applied in small drops from the tip of a toothpick. It is easiest to paint them while they are still on the fret: spray the base tone, add the colored jerseys and helmets with a fine brush once it has dried, and finally tie the whole together with a light dark wash that brings out the outlines. Because of their size it pays to place the figures in logical groups, around the aircraft, at the catapult and on the island, rather than evenly over the whole area.
This is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
