Trumpeter 1:350 French helicopter cruiser is a plastic kit of the large surface ship as it looked in the last years of its active service.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from Trumpeter captures the French helicopter ship as she looked in the year given in the name, Jeanne d'Arc in 2008. The model in 1:350 scale is among the larger ship projects: it has a broken-up superstructure, an extensive flight deck at the stern and gun armament in the forward part of the hull.
The real ship served the French Navy from the middle of the 1960s and combined two roles. In peacetime she carried fresh graduates of the naval academy on long overseas voyages, but if needed she became an amphibious and command ship able to operate with helicopters. Her career ended at the turn of the first and second decades of this century.
The extensive surfaces of the hull call for patient fitting and sanding of the seams, ideally section by section. Paint the flight deck and the superstructures separately and join them only afterwards. The gray finish is brought to life by a fine filter and a discreet accentuation of the horizontal edges; separate the underwater section with a precise waterline drawn with masking tape. The railings and the antennas stand out once they are replaced by photo-etched parts, which are sold separately.
The kit is supplied unassembled and without paints; glue, paints and photo-etched accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
