An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Type IX-C ocean-going submarine in 1:350 scale from Hobby Boss. The model can be built as a full-hull version on a stand or as a waterline model cut at the waterline. The package holds photo-etched parts for the conning tower and for fine detail, a stand and a nameplate.
The Type IX-C was a further development of the long-range Type IX family. Thanks to added fuel tanks it gained an even greater range than the IX-B and became the most widespread variant of the whole type. These boats could operate exceptionally far from their bases, off the African and the American coasts. The arrangement of the periscopes in the conning tower differed slightly on this version from the earlier boats.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Decide in advance whether you are building the full hull or a waterline model and prepare a stand or a base with a waterline accordingly. Glue the photo-etched railings and antennas with cyanoacrylate glue. Give the hull a coat of primer and airbrush gray shades with a darker deck. The detail of the hatches and seams comes out once a thin dark wash has been applied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
