Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a ship model but an accessory for the build. It contains metal photo-etched parts for a model of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal as she was in 1939. Eduard split the accessories for this ship into several separate parts and this is the one marked as the third; the individual parts are bought separately and complement one another. Photo-etch can do what injection-molded plastic cannot: sheet thickness to scale, see-through gratings and railings that do not look like beams.
HMS Ark Royal was a British aircraft carrier designed in the 1930s within the limits of the disarmament treaties of the day. She entered service late in 1938 and with two hangar decks one above the other she could carry an unusually large air group. She made her name more than once: she took part in the pursuit of the battleship Bismarck in May 1941, when her torpedo Swordfish damaged the German giant's rudder and thereby settled its fate. She herself lasted until November 1941, when a submarine torpedo struck her off Gibraltar. The 1939 designation refers to her appearance in the first year of the war.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife, not with scissors, which bend the sheet. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or over the edge of a piece of glass so they come out crisp. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; on larger areas two-part epoxy helps, as it gives time to position them. Always put a primer under photo-etch before painting, otherwise the shade will not hold on smooth metal. Fit the railings at the very end, after the main spraying and the weathering, or you will tear them off while handling the model.
