Eduard 1:350 I-400 is a photo-etched set for raising the level of detail of a plastic kit of the Japanese aircraft-carrying submarine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of photo-etched parts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a model of the submarine but an accessory for raising the level of detail of a plastic kit of the Japanese I-400 submarine in 1:350 scale. The fine metal parts refine the guard rails, the gratings, the platforms and other features of the deck structure, which are hard to reproduce in injection-molded plastic.
The I-400 was a Japanese submarine from the end of the Second World War and one of the largest submarines of its time. It was a so-called submarine aircraft carrier: in a watertight hangar it carried several folding attack aircraft, which were launched by a catapult on the deck. It never took part in a combat mission with its aircraft, however.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret, bend them over a sharp edge and bond them in spots with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Fit longer runs of guard rails smoothly along the outline of the deck and trim the excess to length; tweezers and a magnifier make the work easier.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
