An injection-molded plastic kit of the Yuri Dolgoruky missile submarine in 1:350 scale from Zvezda. The model captures the lead boat of the modern Russian Borei class (Project 955). The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents consist of plastic parts, which are glued with modeling cement for plastic.
Yuri Dolgoruky is a nuclear ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) of the Borei class, brought into service with the Russian Navy. It carries intercontinental ballistic missiles and it counts among the principal carriers of strategic weapons. Its hydrodynamically clean hull and the covered missile tubes are characteristic. It is a scale model of modern equipment.
Decide whether you are building the full hull with a stand or the waterline version. Sand the joints of the hull halves carefully so that they do not show. For painting use dark gray shades, tone the surfaces and use fine washes to bring out the panels and the rivets. It is a good idea to add a stand and a nameplate.
